Woodland Workshops 2018

Woodsman day 3rd March 2018

A one day course (Not exclusively for men) covering:

Tree identification

Woodland management

Sawing techniques

Health and Safety considerations

Axe types for - Splitting, Carving, Felling

Safe axe use

Efficient splitting methods

Option to try and buy and axe (at discounted rates)£45 per adult £20 (16-18’s)

The day includes lunch (pasties) and tea and coffee with a kettle over the fire throughout the day.

Bow Making 16th June 2018

A great Father’s day present for dads children!

Learn how to make your own bow and arrows straight from the woods and spend some quality time together in the process. The day includes:

Safe bow use (taught by archery GB instructor on our woodland range)

Safe range set up and safety precautions

Tree identification

Safe tool use (knives and saws)

Bow making techniques

Arrow making techniques

Have the opportunity to shoot your own bow on our range

£45 per adult £20 per child.

The day includes lunch (pasties) and tea and coffee with a kettle over the fire throughout the day.

Foraging Day 1st September 2018

Learn how to identify edible plants and forage for a feast from our woodland kitchen!

Learn how to positively Identify different species and check plants are safe to eat

Learn common hazards to foragers

foraging rules and etiquette

Plant uses and recipe ideas

Finish with a feast around the fire with fish, locally sourced meat and vegetables to add to the pot.

Vegetarian and vegan options available.

£55 per adult £20 per child (minimum age 14).

Whittling Workshop 3rd November 2018

Learn how to safely use a knife in a range of fun and progressive whittling projects. The day covers:

Knife safety

Caring for and sharpening your knife

UK knife law

A range of cutting techniques

Splitting wood safely with a knife

Simple whittling projects suitable for ages 14+

Advanced projects for more experienced whittlers
